When talking about Bali, Sanur Beach, Tanjung Benoa, and the like are the first that come to mind. But some may think that these destinations are overrated, and want something new. Then for that, need to cross the water and come to Nusa Penida. This small island at the southeast of Bali main-island has many new tourist destinations, and one of them is Paluang Cliff Nusa Penida.

This cliff located on the southwest side of the island, near Kelingking Beach. And often tourists visit this cliff as a one go destination along with Kelingking beach. Here’s what to expect when coming to this cliff:

  1. Best Place for Sunset

The top ocean view usually is about sunset. The reason is that the ocean doesn’t have any dead angle all the way to the horizon. Thus, the magnificent scenery when the sun is starting to set and stain the sky with golden and red has no frame limit. And here, in Paluang Cliff Nusa Penida offers that scene. As far as the eyes can see is golden and red hue from the sun color and stumble into the sky and water.

With the location of this cliff at the southwest, makes this place perfect for the sunset sighting. Many people purposely hike up the cliff just for this reason. And also, even though this place is starting to get around, but doesn’t really crowd with tourist yet.

  1. Not the Place for People with Acrophobia

One thing for sure about Paluang Cliff is the promise of hiking on the narrow steep. Not only that but upon the cliff is also narrow and uneven.  That’s why the place doesn’t really get that many visitors even if it has an unadulterated scene. With that reason, people with acrophobia better do not come to this place.

Just like the other places in Nusa Penida, Paluang Cliff also has a breathtaking view. The rugged beauty of the water, rock formation, and sky come in one picture. The cliff is like the eagle eye of the Kelingking Beach, as they’re in one area and the difference is in the elevation. And just like the nowadays generation, you can show off for coming to this place through your Instagram account.

 

  1. Don’t Miss and Visit Pura Paluang in the Journey

When visiting Paluang Cliff Nusa Penida, don’t miss Pura Paluang just in the corner. This Hindu temple has a unique concept with automobiles functionating as shrines. The official name of this temple is Pura Karang Dawa, as it located in Karang Dawa, Bunga Mekar Village. This place of prayer is full of meaning for the villagers, so keep your manner when visiting the place.

  1. Undeveloped Attraction

As mentioned before about the unadulterated scenery of the place, this place is also come as undeveloped. The lack of proper facilities for a tourist attraction is real, like a toilet or even a simple food stall. Also, be ready for losing any communication signal in this place. And the most dangerous thing is there’s no guardrail around the cliff.

Even if Paluang Cliff Nusa Penida comes as rugged as it is, but many people still willing to visit the place. The cliff is only 5 minutes hike from Kelingking Beach, which is around 30 – 40 minutes from the Toyapakeh Port. From the port, you can take a motorbike ride or rent a car.
